My Annual Haircut

I usually only get a haircut once a year, around my birthday. At one time, I saved it as a reward for weight loss...but since that doesn't seem to be in the cards right now I'm using it as my birthday present to myself, like last year.

This is one of my favorite photos of myself, from grad school. I was in the best shape of my life and I absolutely loved my haircut. Every time I have gotten a haircut since, it's always this style. I love it because it's so easy to straighten my hair - my preferred style. Ten minutes and I'm done. When it's long I almost never wear it straight because I barely have enough time in the mornings to get everyone and everything together, much less actually do my hair. I also won't do bangs...with my thick wavy/curly hair, they just do not work.

But, I'm debating on deviating from the norm and doing something different. This is a big thing for me because I don't like change and the last time I was adventurous with my hair, I wound up with these awful layers and bright red hair with blond streaks. I looked like Rainbow Brite and it was awful.

So what would you do? Go with the tried and true style that you love, or mix it up and possibly live with something you hate?

  1. I'm the wrong person to ask here as I'm in the same place as you. I've always had longer hair and the last time I had it short (I immediately knew it needed to grow). My hormones and stress have played havoc with my hair over the past few years and it's simply not doing what it used to do. I really like the new "blob" that is all the rage now and one of my friends cut her hair and it looked great. Just not sure I'm brave enough to let my length go. However, sometimes we just need to take the leap and do something different. Can't wait to see what it looks like!

  2. The theme of my MOPS group this year is Be you, Bravely, so I'm trying to decide if this is something I should be brave about and just go for it. We shall see!

I love comments so leave me some love!
