Trash Cans!!!

Finally, my much anticipated trash can post.

Starting at the beginning of the year, the City of Evansville started this new trash program. We got these GIANT 96 gallon trash cans, one for trash and one for recycling.
While I'm glad that we don't have to separate our recyclables anymore...I'm so pissed about these trash cans! They're GINORMOUS and almost as tall as me! We can't park both cars in the garage with them there, plus we can't park both cars in the driveway and pull them through to the curb. There's an option to get the 48 gallon size, but when I called about it, I was informed that we have to wait until all of the new cans are delivered for the entire sometime at the end of March/April. From the lady's tone, I could tell that I wasn't the only one who had called, it sounded like a lot of people have actually. I just cannot believe that the city didn't put out a survey regarding the size people wanted, give the choice of size, or give everyone the smaller ones with the option to upgrade if you want. We don't even fill one of our small trash cans in a week, so what the heck are we going to do with these behemoths?! We've had these eyesores for a week now and every time I see them I get so pissed off about it. Alan thinks I'm nuts for being so mad about it because there's nothing we can do besides what I already did, call the waste company. It gets even better though because there's a new automated system and they have to be a certain distance apart from each other, cars and trees and such. Well, our hooligan neighbors, who throw their trash in our yard, play their music obnoxiously loud at all hours of the day, think it's ok to just walk through our yard whenever they feel like it, and let their kids dig in our flower beds while they're outside with them (honestly, while I love our house, if we had known the neighbors suck so bad, we wouldn't have bought it), park their cars in front of our house all the time so we have nowhere to put these ridiculous trash cans. So, I don't know what we're gonna do with these horrible things. I really just want to leave them in the middle of street for them to be picked up.

Thanks for letting me vent!
