So I'm debating doing this:

and this:

I don't know that if I do them, I will run part of Bound the Mound or not. But, it's something to strive towards. What do you all think?

I've been riding my exercise bike or doing Just Dance/EA Active on the Wii 5 days a week and I've been trying harder to stick with Weight Watchers. However, instead of losing weight, I've been gaining! It's so frustrating. The last time I did WW, the weight just seemed to melt off. I know I haven't been as strict as I was before. But, I'm not eating over my points for the week. I guess what they say about it being harder to lose weight the older you are is true. Ugh!
I've decided that I need to do something to kick my weight loss efforts into high gear. So, I've decided that I'm going to attempt the Couch 2 5k program. Day 1, Week 1= me feeling like I'm going to die! I was only able to jog about half the time you're supposed to - I jogged every other time and walked at a fast pace the rest of the time. My calves were so tight and hurt so bad that I was limping by the end. I really don't like running. At all. I much prefer rollerblading, but I don't have a good place to do it here. So, I'm giving this running thing a chance. We shall see. Maybe I'll become a runner afterall!

12 Month Appointment

Ewan had his 12 month appointment on Wednesday. He weighs 20 lbs 5 oz and is 29 inches tall. He's in the 18th and 11th percentiles for weight and height, but he seems like such a big boy compared to this time last year. He's cruising everywhere and loves his push walker, but isn't walking on his own yet. He's also crawling crawling and rarely does his cute army crawl anymore. He loves to steal the spoon from me to feed himself, even if most of it winds up on the floor. He's also saying several words, including Mom, Dad, cat, ball/bottle, uhoh, bye bye, and no. Oh yeah, last night he started blowing kisses. So cute!

Here are a few photos that I've taken recently:

You're It!

I've been really slacking in my blog posts as of late. This  from Rachel over at That's Life... gave me an excuse to post something!

Here are the rules:
1. You must post the rules
2. Post 12 fun facts about yourself in the blog post
3.Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create 12 new questions for the people you tagged.
4. Tag 12 people & link them on your post. (or as many as you like)
5. Let them know you've tagged them.

12 Facts all about me!

1.I have a half brother and sister that I've never met and probably never will.

2. I hate chicken on the bone. I don't know what it is, but it so gross.

3. I also cannot stand touching wet paper. People probably think I'm crazy because I just wipe my hands on my clothes in the bathroom, but the thought of getting paper wet makes me physically sick.

4. Every time I drive by road kill, I get the willies.

5. I'm not just afraid of fish, but of anything dead.

6.  Most people that know me IRL would probably never say this is true, but I firmly believe in the power of prayer.

7. I'm EXTREMELY superstitious

8. I absolutely cannot stand it when people end a sentence with a preposition.

9. I tried out for Jeopardy in Chicago a few years back. Didn't make it though!

10. I love to dance and used to have Holly's Dance Party in my room throughout school and college

11. I could eat pancakes and Nutella all day everyday and be a happy camper.

12. I'm obsessed with maps. To the point that I keep an online pushpin map of everywhere I've been. Including random little towns.

Rachel's questions to me:

1. What are your vices?
    chocolate and coffee

2. How many times have you moved?
I'm not counting college housing because that would be a LOT, but otherwise 5. From Ft. Wayne to Evansville, then back to Ft. Wayne. Then from Ft. Wayne to Muncie, IN. Then Muncie to Boothwyn, PA and finally from Boothwyn to back to Evansville.

3. Do you want more kids? If so, how many would complete your family?
I go back and forth on wanting more kids. I love Ewan more than anything and would love for him to have a blood sibling, but pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum were so awful that I honestly don't know if I can do that to myself again.

4. What position do you sleep in?
I call it the frog position. On my stomach with my head on my arms and one of my legs bent at a 90 degree angle. It drives my husband nuts because I always dig my knee into his side.

5. What is a difficult word for you to pronounce?
Accompanist. I always add an e to make it accompaniest.

6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Oh geez...I have a lot! Probably people that don't just tell you straight up how the feel about something. While it may hurt, it hurts a lot more in the long run to hem and haw about it.

7. Name one thing on your bucket list.
Moving to England and living there longer than 4 months.

8. Android or iPhone?
Android. I like the iPhone and almost got one when I got my new phone recently. However, the iPhone doesn't have audible Google Navigation. You have to pay for it through your carrier. No thanks!

9. What was your favorite tv show from childhood?
This isn't a kids show, but they were on when I was a kid. Any Star Trek series, except Enterprise. I'm a Trekkie and proud of it!
10. Do you dye your hair?
I used to all the time. But then I attempted red and it didn't take. I looked like Rainbow Brite. I don't think I've dyed it since.

11. Have you ever had a speeding ticket? If so, how many?
Three. One right after I graduated high school, one during grad school in which my now husband drove right by me while I was pulled over and one this past summer going through Indianapolis.

12. What was the last book you read?
Ha! Read a book? I haven't done that in over a year. I think I was reading Guns, Germs and Steel before Ewan was born. I know I didn't finish it however.

People I tag:

My Questions for you:
1. What food could you eat everyday for the rest of your life?
2. Do you play an instrument? If so, what and for how long?
3. If you could move anywhere, where would you go and why?
4. Why are there more girls' clothes for kids than boys?
5. Do blondes or brunettes have more fun?
6.Ocean or lake?
7. Manual or automatic? Transmission that is!
8. If you could create your own tartan, what colors would you use?
9. What is your favorite state and why?
10. Cats or dogs?
11. Are you a "tree-hugger"? Why or why not?
12. What was your favorite toy as a child?

And don't forget to send me a link to your post! :)

I used to love them. I would be the crazy girl standing on the porch watching them and I would get to excited when there was a tornado warning. Now that I have Ewan, I cannot stand them, especially when Alan isn't here. Alan left today for Louisville and Lexington until Wednesday. And with the scary storms rapidly approaching, I'm trying really hard not to freak out. Last spring we had some crazy weather when he was in Illinois for the week, just like this. Luckily my friend Melanie had come over for dinner that night and she was gracious enough to stay until the worst of them passed. But, I still didn't sleep until they were over. I can guarantee that will happen tonight as well. I have a bag packed for Ewan, the cats and I should we need to go hide under the stairs.
Ugh, I just wish they would pass already!

For All You Gleeks Out There

I just have to say that I love this show! As a Ft. Wayne native, I love all the random references to my hometown. The latest? Getting married at Ft. Wayne's 24 hour wedding chapel. Love it!

Curious George!

He enjoyed his cupcake

And so did Ewan's buddy Anya!
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from his Louisville party because we forgot our camera! I'm waiting to get the pictures Alan's dad took.

Ewan's First Birthday

We actually had THREE birthday parties for Ewan's first birthday. While I love entertaining, that was a lot of work and I think next year we will be having one party here in Evansville and everyone can come to us!

New Year's weekend, we drove up to Fort Wayne to celebrate Christmas and Ewan's birthday with my family. We had a small celebration with just family at my aunt's house. Ewan got a lot of bath toys, some clothes from my mom's trip to Florida in December and my aunt made him an activity book. She's an excellent seamstress and made several of my baby blankets, one of which is now Ewan's. My aunt was also nice enough to watch Ewan New Year's Eve for us and we were able to go to m friend Mary's NYE party for a bit. Sadly, I was falling asleep before midnight so we left around 11! We left that Monday to come back to Evansville and it was snowing up there. Let me say, that was quite possibly one of the scariest trips from Ft. Wayne to Evansville I have ever made. What should've been a 5 hour trip turned into 7.5 because I465 was complete ice in Indianapolis and I70 was closed it was so bad and we wound up having to take IN 57 the rest of the way. There were portions of the highway that were a complete whiteout. I was in the back seat with Ewan while Alan was freaking out driving. I just shut my eyes and tried to sleep most of the way. Thankfully we got home safely.

We celebrated Ewan's actual birthday (a Thursday) at our place. We had several friends, their daughter and my brother and sister in law and their son over. I got a bunch of Papa Murphy's pizzas and made cupcakes. We ate, Ewan opened gifts and then chowed down on his cupcake. He got more Little People sets, a ride on firetruck, Trio blocks, Legos and a basketball hoop for this summer. The party was a major success!

The following Saturday, we had a party in Louisville for Alan's family at his parents' house. I made all the food (appetizers) and cupcakes. I decided to enlighten them and make healthy foods that they normally wouldn't eat. It was a success - almost all of the food was eaten, and even the kids liked it! Ewan got another ride on toy, a push walker that has an interactive tv function, a stoneware bank and a savings bond. I'm really glad everything went well!

What's Going On in the Higgins Household?!

So Alan tore two ligaments in his foot playing basketball last night! He went to go play basketball with a friend of ours and he fell and rolled his foot pretty bad. He also scraped up his hand and his knee. When he got home last night, his ankle was somewhat stiff, but he couldn't put any weight on it this morning. Of course, being Alan, I had to bug him and bug him to go get it checked out. He thought he was being a weenie and they were going to tell him it was nothing. But, he's glad I made him go! He has to stay off of it as much as possible for the next two weeks and if it gets worse or doesn't get better, then he has to go see an orthopedic doctor.

On another note, I have to take one of our cats, Powder, to the vet tomorrow because we think she has ringworm! Poor girl has these weird ring-like scabs on her belly.

On a better note, I will post about Ewan's birthday by the end of the week, I promise. It's crazy here at the moment!
