Christmas #1

Alan and I had our little Christmas with just us and Ewan on Friday. We went to Alan's family for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year. I will admit that I was pretty upset that Ewan's first Christmas wasn't with my family. However, I tried to make the best of it because we're going to see my family to celebrate Christmas and Ewan's birthday this weekend.

We got to Louisville Saturday around noon and hung out at Alan's parents for a bit before going to his aunt's house for the Higgins extended family Christmas Eve dinner. I had never been before and it was ok. There were tons of people there that I didn't know, but they all loved Ewan! Probably the highlight of the evening was when I got to play around on their piano after a lot of people had left. I was surprised that I was able to read both the right and left hand....together!

We then went to Alan's grandparent's house, where we all exchanged gifts. I knew that Ewan was getting TONS of stuff from his grandparents, but he still got a decent amount from his great-grandparents, great great grandma and great aunts and uncles. Alan and I got a couple gift cards and some cash. I took lots of pictures!

Christmas morning we spent with Ewan and his cousin Jayden opening their gifts from Santa. Alan's other brother came over with his wife and kids around noon and we had lunch then opened the gifts from his parents and brothers. Let me just say the amount of gifts there was ridiculous! They bought Ewan more gifts than we did! He didn't make it through opening all of his gifts and I wound up opening the rest after everyone had left. I think all the people, noise and paper he wasn't allowed to eat was too much for him. He got lots of toys and TONS of clothes. We have to ration his toys throughout the rest of the year ha!

And Ewan just woke up so I will have to post pictures later. Night all!

I Am Completely Disgusted and Appalled

I am completely disgusted and appalled at this. What kind of person can do this to a child, especially at Christmas?! I know that you never truly know what someone can do, but this drives that point right home.
You know what's scary? I'm originally from Ft. Wayne, where this happened. I know exactly where this occurred. We used to drive by there all the time to go to the lake when I was a kid. It just blows my mind that someone could do this.

When I read what happened today, I wanted to throw up. I still do. My heart breaks for this family.

Early Christmas Present

I got my KitchenAid mixer!!!!!!

I will be honest. I suspected Alan had bought it for me since he wouldn't tell me how much he spent on gifts Black Friday. He's so sneaky. He had it shipped to his parents and had them wrap it. He brought it back to put under the tree and told me it was a gift they got Ewan. The only reason I got to open it early was because I had made a comment about how I read on LiveJournal about peoples' mixers leaking grease and such. So he let me open it so I could decide whether or not to return it. Otherwise, I would've gone on believing that it was a gift for Ewan. Of course I'm gonna keep it!

Now I just need a bigger kitchen so I can set it out and start using it.

Christmas Train

We let Ewan open one of his presents early, his Christmas train. He loves it! Whenever Santa says ho ho ho, Ewan tries to say it too. He also dances when it plays music by bouncing his butt or kicking his legs. Way too cute!

My 30th Birthday

I've delayed blogging about my 30th birthday because, well, I'm really upset that I'm 30! My actual birthday was Monday, but I celebrated with friends on Saturday night. I took Ewan to Louisville to stay with his grandparents for the weekend on Friday night. It was so nice to have an uninterrupted night's sleep!

Saturday night we went to RiRa for dinner with several friends and my brother and sister-in-law. Then we went to the boat for a bit before heading to Stockwell's for the rest of the night. Sadly everyone but Rachel lost their money in the slots...I was so mad at myself because I was up almost $20 and should've cashed out. Oops! We spent the majority of the night at Stockwell's just hanging out. I haven't been there in years and it's EXACTLY as I remember it. I think Chris and Megan were scared though! We were all impressed (well except Megan and Chris, who are babies compared to us old folks!) that we stayed out to after midnight haha!
All of us at RiRa

I took my last vacation day of the year on Monday and since we still sent Ewan to daycare, I got to spend the day all to myself. It was SO NICE! I finished Christmas shopping for Alan and Ewan, went to the co-op to stock up on spices and grains and chopped my hair. I cut off 5.5" and it's now right above my shoulders. I am so glad it's finally gone. I actually have time to straighten it in the morning now! Alan, Ewan and I went to Los Bravos for dinner and then we stopped by Kohl's on the way home so Alan could pick up some gloves and I got a new black purse. Even though I cannot believe I am now in my 30's and I feel like it's the end of an era (well, it's been over for awhile now, but being THIRTY just cements that fact!), all in all it was a good birthday.

Christopher Pop-In-Kins

Rachel over at That's Life recently posted about starting a new Christmas tradition with Elf on the Shelf. After reading her blog, I thought to myself, "Wow, that's such a neat idea to do with Ewan next year!" I was also thinking about how I could get my hands on one of those sets after Christmas when they're on clearance.

Well, guess what? My sister-in-law gave us her Christopher Pop-In-Kins, which is similar to Elf on the Shelf. Yay!

11 Month Update

Ewan turned 11 months on Monday, my birthday! He is such a vibrant little boy and constantly into EVERYTHING! None of our tables are safe!
He's been pulling up for probably a month now and is starting to cruise along the furniture, mainly the couch and coffee table. He's added to the words he can say, in addition to mom mom, dada, baba (bottle/ball) and uhoh, he's now saying bye bye and hi. He is also such a ham, put a camera in front of his face and he's instantly cheesin'.

I cannot wait for his first Christmas!

11 Months!

I've been horrible at posting lately, so I thought I would at least post Ewan's 11 month photo. A real update will be coming soon!

BYOC - Saturday Edition!

It's Bring Your Own Crazy straight from Drazil's Blog.  BYOC is where we answer 5 questions in order to get to know each other better and give our blogging brains a break.

Let’s do a little themed version of where you live and why!

1. Describe the structure you live in. (apartment, condo, house, mansion, cardboard box?)

I live in a two bedroom townhouse. It's pretty cozy with a husband, almost toddler and two cats. We can't wait to start looking at houses next fall!

2. Describe the city you live in. (population, main attractions)
My city has a population of about 120,000. It's the third largest city in Indiana. I went to college here and moved back last March after being away for 7 years. When I was here for college, I thought there was absolutely nothing to do. I don't know if it's because I have a family now or if Evansville has just grown in terms of culture, but there's a lot more here than just shopping and restaurants now. There's a children's museum, zoo, art museum, hockey team and events associated with the two universities.
3. Why do you live in the town you live in? (job, to get away from a different town, family, schools?)

My husband was offered a job here and we relocated from the Philadelphia area.

4. What’s the view like from your backyard?
Umm...it's our patio, shed, garden and fence.

5. Repeat question: How has your week been in blogland and in real life?
It's been pretty dead in blogland for the last couple of weeks. But my real life has been crazy busy with work and getting ready for the holidays. I turn 30 (ahh!) on Monday so I've been kind of mopey about it all week (but that's another post!)

Thanksgiving Weekend

Alan, Ewan and I spent Thanksgiving at my in-laws in Louisville. While we were going to Fort Wayne on Friday for my friend Mary's wedding, my family always goes to Florida the day after Thanksgiving, so they were busy getting ready for their trip. We had a good day full of LOTS of food and fun times with family. Apparently, Alan used to build a gingerbread house with our niece, Kayla, when she was younger. Alan's brother, Bob, brought back the tradition since this was the first Thanksgiving the family was together in a long time. Ewan also had a good time. He's finally getting big enough that he can play with his cousins some. I just love watching him experience new things!

Alan and I debated about going out at midnight for Black Friday, but we ultimately decided against it. We had to leave early to drive up to the Fort to meet my family for lunch before they left for Florida. Personally, that is totally ok with me! I've worked in retail for too many years to want to deal with that crap, even as a shopper. Nothing is worth it! On a side note - one thing I am thankful for is to no longer work in retail, I no longer dread the holidays!

Once we got to the Fort, we met my family at their usual haunt for lunch. They hadn't seen Ewan since September and they couldn't believe how much he has grown. Even though we only got to see them for a short time, it was really nice. I can't wait until New Year's when we get to celebrate Christmas and Ewan's birthday with them.

After we had lunch, we stopped in at the bank where I used to work and saw my friend Tara. I hadn't seen her since we came to visit from PA when Ewan was a few weeks old. We also met her, her husband and daughter for breakfast on Sunday before we left town. It was really nice to catch up. Hopefully it won't be another year before I see her!

After we checked into our hotel Friday afternoon, I went and helped Mary's decorate her reception hall. I've never been into Yolo, and it was really nice. Very swanky! I then picked up Ewan and Alan and went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, Ewan was pretty cranky and we wound up having to leave the rehearsal dinner early. Honestly, that was ok though because I had to get up at 5:30 in the morning for her wedding!

Saturday morning, I got up at the buck crack of dawn to go to breakfast with the girls. We then got our hair did before getting ready for the wedding. While I was doing my bridesmaid duties, Alan and Ewan were out shopping. Ewan was asleep throughout the entire ceremony and was farily good during the reception. However, we decided to leave once he fell asleep. I was exhausted and we had a long drive back to Evansville the next day. Overall, it was an ok time.

After we met Tara and her family for breakfast, we stopped by my aunt and uncle's to say hi. We had intended on staying about an hour or so, but didn't get out of there until almost four hours later. I totally should've known! Ewan had a good time playing with his cousins. Who knew Dustin was so good with kids? Once we finally left, I had a LONG car ride in the back seat with Ewan to Evansville. Let's just say I was so glad to finally get out of the car!

Overall, it was a good weekend. As much as I'm not looking forward to turning 30 in less than a week, I'm really looking forward to an adult night out this weekend!

Horrible Blogger!

I know, I know. I've been horrible at blogging the month of November. Between being busy at work, Thanksgiving and my friend Mary's wedding, I haven't had a chance to blog the last couple of weeks. A real update will be coming soon. I promise!

Aces Homecoming

This weekend is UE's homecoming and as part of the festivities, Alan and I went to the Fiddick Lecture last night. The Fiddick Lecture is an annual history lecture. While I was a history major, I sadly never went to much having to do with my department. I was too concerned with partying! Now that we're back in Evansville, I'm trying to be more involved with the History Department and UE in general as an alumna. The lecture itself was ok. I personally thought the speaker was a little all over the place and it was somewhat difficult to follow. However, there was this guy behind us that was hacking up a lung the whole time, which was really annoying me. Turns out it was Dr. Gugin! He "asked" a question that turned out to be a story about him and Dr. Fiddick playing golf. Totally random, but it was so him. A lot of the older alumni in the audience (myself included sadly!) thought it was hilarious because we knew him while at UE. The current students as well as Alan thought he was nuts I'm sure! There was a history reception at the May House afterwards and Alan and I stopped by for a bit. We had told Chris and Megan that we would pick Ewan up around 9 and since the lecture ran late, we were only able to stay about 20 minutes or so. I would've loved to have stayed longer, but such is the life of a parent! At least I did get to speak to several of my former professors.

This afternoon we went to the Aces basketball game at the Ford Center downtown. I had bought tickets for the homecoming game v. Butler and it was a really good game! Both Alan and I figured they would get stomped because Butler is a really good team. And for awhile it seemed that way. But, in the second half, UE came back and wound up winning in overtime! I don't know that much about basketball, but there was a weird call at the end. Butler scored to win it right at the end buzzer. However, the refs had to review it because it was too close to call. Apparently, they couldn't decide so they fouled a UE player (which apparently isn't allowed in hindsight) and gave the player from Butler a chance for free throws. However, he missed both of them and the game went into overtime.

I was so excited to take Ewan to a game. I haven't been to one since I went to a Ball State v. UE game at BSU while in grad school. I actually caught myself tearing up because I love exposing Ewan to new things, especially things that mean a lot to me.

Not that I really want everyone out there knowing what I weigh and how much I've gained. But, since my weight loss rant about a month ago, I've lost almost 10 lbs and am now back under 200...just barely.

But, I'll take it!

First Hockey Game

Saturday night Alan, Ewan and I went to the Evansville IceMen opening hockey game v. the Fort Wayne Komets. It was the first public event in the new stadium here in Evansville and let me tell you, hockey is a BIG DEAL here! I, of course, was going to root for my hometown, Fort Wayne, but they lost. Boo.

To be honest, hockey is boring! I really do think it's worse than football. Ewan thought so too, seeing as he fell asleep. Maybe he can go with Alan when he gets a little older. Somehow, I don't see myself going to games that often.

Ten Months!

Yesterday marked Ewan's 10 month "birthday." I know I say this every month, but holy cow! My baby boy is quickly coming up on his first birthday! November and December always fly by and then his first birthday really will be upon us. I guess it's a good thing I'm a planner and already have his birthday somewhat planned then!

Here's an update on my little guy. As of today, he has 7 teeth, four on top, three on the bottom. He's finally pulling up and wants to be standing almost all the time. Therefore, he's getting into even more and more stuff. We had to break out the safety gear this weekend because he discovered outlets and the toilet. He likes to crawl over anything and everything he can, including us! He's also very into chasing the cats around. Poor kitties, they have no clue what's in store once he can walk!

We had an eventful day yesterday. We went to Wesselman Woods in the afternoon for a walk before going to the Evansville IceMen v. Fort Wayne Komets hockey game (more about the game later). Ewan slept through most of our walk, but loved swinging at the playground.

Ten Months!
Enjoying our walk

I'm stuck!

Christmas Card Swap

Yes, I know that Halloween isn't even over yet, and I'm posting about Christmas...BUT in my defense, this sounds like a really fun activity!

Halloween 2011

Saturday afternoon/evening, Alan, Ewan and I went to our friend Eric's 30th birthday party at Burdette Park. It was a costume party, but Alan and I were both lame and didn't dress up. At least we put Ewan in a Halloween outfit though! Last night, Alan and I took Ewan to Boo at the Zoo. He did a lot better than we expected, although he was seriously perturbed by his costume, not to mention everyone else in costume! His daycare had a Halloween party today, but we decided to put him in his glow in the dark skeleton jammies because we knew there was no way he would go all day with his monster costume on! Tonight, we stayed at home to greet our trick or treaters...however, we had THREE! Talk about lame! Apparently the kids in our neighborhood go trick or treating elsewhere or at one of the Trunk or Treats around town. I guess now we know for next year!

Giving us his monster face

Happy Halloween!

Tiggerific Tuesday!

Nine Month Appointment

Ewan recently had his nine month well baby checkup. It was postponed a few weeks because he had an ear infection and couldn't receive his vaccinations. I wasn't able to take him, but this is what Alan reported.

He's 18lbs 3oz and 27 inches. The doctor said he seems healthy, just short and skinny. I don't know about the skinny part, but I can definitely see where he gets his height!

He's VERY vocal - his personality is definitely coming out and he's letting us know what he does and doesn't like. He waves bye bye on occasion and has been trying to pull up for several weeks. Tonight he finally did! We thought we were in trouble when he started crawling...now we're really in for it!

Talk About A Great Start

So Alan slid on wet pavement and ran into a guardrail on the way to Buffalo yesterday.
He sent me pictures and the damage isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be after what he described. I'm really glad he wasn't hurt.
But. This sucks. We definitely didn't need this right now.

A Perfect Fall Day

You know, when there' not a cloud in the sky, the leaves a changing and it's not too hot or cold? Yeah, today was one of those days!

Alan, Ewan and I went to Mayse Farm Market today. We went through the corn maze and took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, where Alan and I picked out our pumpkins. I absolutely loved watching Ewan experience this for the first time. Alan made fun of me, but I almost started crying because I can't believe how big my little baby is getting. He's not really such a baby anymore! This time next year he'll be running around with the other little kids in the straw maze.

We couldn't get Ewan to look straight at the camera, all he wanted to do was bang on the pumpkins!

I bought some apples and I now have not one, not two, but three apple pies cooling in my kitchen. I also bought some apple cider. There's nothing better than freshly pressed apple cider. Makes me miss the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne every September. Maybe next year we can take Ewan up there that weekend.

Now all I need are some mums and my own personal fall festival will be complete!

Busy Week(s)

We've had a busy week here. Yesterday we had my brother and sister-in-law, and their son over for dinner. I made marinated London broil out of one of my Mediterranean cookbooks, roasted broccoli, green beans and couscous. Yummy!

The recipe for the London broil is as follows:
1 c dry red wine (I just use a red table wine)
2 tbs olive oil
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cloves
salt & pepper to taste

Mix ingredients together, then pour over London broil. The recipe calls to put the meat in the oven, but I just put it in a large saute pan with a lid and flip it every 5 min or so until its cooked through. The wine mixture reduces down and creates a nice sauce. Every time I've put it in the oven, the meat tastes wonderfully, but the wine mixture is burnt to my baking pan.

Jay was having a blast with Ewan's toys. It was so cute to see Ewan try to play with him. The little guy wants to play with kids older than him so bad, give him a few months and he will be right in there with them!

Tonight, Rachel and Eric invited us to meet them at the Slice for dinner. I had been thinking about seeing if they would like to go tonight all week, but they're going on vacation soon so I figured they would be busy getting ready. I guess great minds really do think alike afterall! It was nice to get the kids together. Ewan is able to interact and play with Anya more and more. I love being able to see all the new things he figures out.

Saturday, we're going to the pumpkin patch, something I look forward to all year. I LOVE fall, especially October. Pumpkins, apples, corn mazes, hayride, bonfires...I love all of it! We went to Linvilla Orchards in Aston, PA last fall, but I was 7 months pregnant and didn't get to enjoy it as much as I normally would. I absolutely cannot wait to share with Ewan the wonder that is fall!

Sunday is Megan's bridal shower in St. Louis and my mother-in-law and other sister-in-law are driving here, then I'm driving us all to the shower. The boys are staying here and ordering pizza and watching football..I'm glad they all get to spend time together, but I'm so glad I don't have to be here for that!

Then, on Monday, Alan is leaving for the National Trust for Historic Preservation conference in Buffalo, NY. He'll be gone all week, meaning he'll spend his birthday in New York. I guess that means he doesn't get his dreamsicle cake this year! (j/k! he'll just have to wait til he gets back)

Then, our actual anniversary is October 24. Not sure what we're going to do yet, but it'll probably be low-key since we just took our trip to North Carolina. After that it's Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Mary's wedding, my 30th birthday (ahhh!), then Christmas, New Years' and Ewan's birthday...where has the time gone?!

My Poor Little Man!

So Ewan threw up tonight. And, I mean THREW UP! He's never done that before and it scared the crap out of Alan and I. He seemed fine before so I don't know what happened, if he ate something that didn't agree with him (breastmilk, lil crunchies and apple-peach oatmeal - all things he's had before) or if he's come down with something. Once it was over and we gave him a bath, he seemed fine. He's asleep now, but I'm keeping an eye on him though to make sure he's ok throughout the night.

However, in true Holly fashion, I Googled infant vomiting and am now somewhat freaked out. I really hope he's ok.

Tiggerific Tuesday!

Meal Planning

On another note, I'm really getting back into meal planning again. I know I've said it before, but I've started picking out several recipes from my cookbooks each week and making them. I used to rarely eat processed foods and basically ever since Ewan was born that's all we've been eating. Which has definitely contributed to my weight gain! I swore to myself that I would lose the weight I gained during pregnancy and not gain a bunch like my mom did after I was born. Well, guess what? While I did lose 40 lbs within a month of Ewan being born, I have gained about 15lbs of that back, which totally freaks me out. I know I'm not the skinniest girl to begin with, but I am close to the highest weight I've ever been and I don't want to go there again!
Ok, I will get off my tangent...The meals I've planned for the week include:

Asparagus and Swiss Cheese Quiche - I've never made a quiche before, but I made this last night and it was yummy.

Summer Vegetable Pasta - we had this tonight and it was AWESOME!

Tarragon Chicken - I've made this once before, a long time ago. From what I remember, it was pretty good.

Chicken and Beans Skillet - I keep eyeing this in my cookbook, so I decided to make it. Plus, I love Cajun food.

Gnocchi with sun-dried tomato alfredo - An old standard that Alan loves

Probably the best part of cooking is the fact that there is so much leftover to freeze for later!

If anyone wants any of these recipes, let me know and I will post them.

Yes, I am a Dork!

So I'm watching Kim Kardashian's wedding on E! at the moment. Keeping Up With the Kardashians is my secret (ok, not so secret now!) reality show that I love to watch. For the most part, I think reality TV is awful, but I really like this show for some reason. I think it's because they're so ridiculous that it is entertaining.

I've decided that I want some new followers on my blog. So, I found this blog hop.

Anniversary Trip 2011

Last weekend Alan and I went to North Carolina for our anniversary. We stayed at a resort on Lake Lure, which is the area where Dirty Dancing was filmed. I swear I recognized some of the locations too! Lake Lure is in the mountains near Asheville and while it is a resort area, it is fairly isolated.
We got there Friday evening and after we checked in, spent a relaxing evening at dinner on the lake. The food was ok, but the view was awesome. Saturday we drove about an hour north to Grandfather Mountain. When we got up there, IT WAS SNOWING!!! And, it wasn't just flurries, it was accumulating on the trees and the roads were getting a little slushy in places. When we got to the top of the mountain, it was like a blizzard. High winds, snow and absolutely freezing. There is a pedestrian suspension bridge above a gorge at the top of the mountain. Needless to say, we didn't go across. We got outside and it was so cold and windy that there was no way I was gonna do that! The best part is that by the time we got back to where we were staying, it was a gorgeous day, sunny with hardly a cloud in the sky.
Sunday, we went to Asheville for the day. The Asheville Urban Trail is a walking tour through downtown that highlights historic areas. Sculptures created by local artists are also at each stop. Asheville has a lot of Art Deco architecture, which was really cool, but the town itself was a little too artsy for me. We followed the Urban Trail, then did a little shopping.
Monday, we went to Biltmore, which was what I was looking forward to the most, besides Grandfather Mountain. Biltmore was awesome. The house reminded me of Harlaxton in a lot of ways - Alan actually told me to stop comparing it to Harlaxton LOL! I visited the Biltmore Winery while I was there so now my wine rack is stocked back up.
We left early Tuesday morning to drive back to Louisville to pick up Ewan before heading back to Evansville. While it was a short weekend away, it was a good one. I wish we could go on vacation more often!

So Glad to be Home!!

I got back last night from a week in East Central Indiana surveying for work. I'm not going to mention specifics because I don't know who all may read my blog, but let's just say that this was the project from hell and I am SO GLAD to be home! I missed my baby and my husband terribly.
My brother and sister in law are also moving to Evansville this weekend, so it has been a busy week for sure.
We're leaving fairly soon for our anniversary trip to Asheville, NC. I cannot wait for our vacation!

Exciting Times

No I'm not pregnant with #2!

Alan's brother, Chris, his fiance, Megan and their son, Jayden, are moving to Evansville! Chris has been interviewing for different positions within Best Buy so he could transfer and they found out Friday that he got the position here in Evansville. I'm so excited! Chris and Megan are SO DIFFERENT than Alan and I, but Megan and I get along great and it will be so nice to have family here.  I think Alan will be glad to have his brother here to watch football without complaint from the peanut gallery (i.e. Me!). While we do have friends here, we don't get to see them all that often.
Their other option was BFE Arkansas, 11 hours away from Louisville (where Chris and Alan are from) and 7 from Cape Girardeau (where Megan is from). Having lived 10 hours away from family for the last three years, I know how hard it was going to be for them, especially with a kid.
Apparently, they want Chris to start within the next few weeks. Megan hasn't decided when she's moving yet, the last I had talked to her before they found out for sure, she had said maybe after her bridal showers in October. So, we might have Chris as a houseguest for a month or so, who knows.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend Alan and I took a vacation day so we would be able to spend more time at the lake with my family. Despite only having one day (Saturday) of warm weather, we had a great time! I took Ewan swimming in the lake on Saturday and this time he seemed to enjoy it more. My mom, grandma and uncle came up Saturday evening and we enjoyed dinner with them.
Sunday it was fairly chilly and it rained off and on all day so we went to the outlet mall, where we got Ewan lots of fall/winter clothes, plus a few for me as well. My aunt and uncle came up and we had a cookout for dinner. By that point the sun had come out so we decided to take Ewan on his first boat ride. He LOATHED the life jacket, but he seemed to enjoy the boat ride and fell asleep. I was glad to go out in the boat (the only time this summer), but it was COLD!
On Monday, my friend Sarah and her son, Hunter, came up for the afternoon. Talk about birth control! He gave us a glimpse of our future in a few months (he's 18 months), running around getting into everything. Props to those who had 2 under 2, but there's no way I could do it!
Since we had taken Tuesday off, we spent the morning just lounging around before getting our stuff together and coming back to Evansville. Overall, it was a great weekend!

8 Months!

Ewan is now EIGHT MONTHS OLD!!! Where has the time gone? I cannot believe my baby boy is quickly turning into a toddler. I was looking at photos from when he was just a couple months old and it blows my mind how much he looks like a little boy and not a baby. I'm so not ready for him to be a toddler yet!

Things that Ewan is now doing:
army crawling everywhere, waving bye, playing peekaboo, saying ba ba and da da...there are so many other things that I can't even think of at the moment. He was 17 lbs 9,5oz at his last doctor's appointment and he has four teeth and is working on two more.

Such a big boy!

Convertible Car Seats

So Ewan is quickly outgrowing his car seat. We want something that has good ratings and something that will fit into a Dodge Neon and an Hyundai Elantra. I've been looking online and have two that I'm considering.
Combi Cocorro
Britax Roundabout

Any thoughts?

We have a crawler!

Well, an army crawler that is! Since Friday Ewan has perfected his army crawl and is now getting into all sorts of trouble. Yesterday he cornered the cat, went after the cat food and cat toys, tried to get under the couch and coffee table and went after the modem and router. Alan and I are in so much trouble!

KY State Fair

Last weekend I took Ewan to the KY State Fair with my in-laws. Alan and I had planning on taking him but then Alan wound up having to go to Arkansas so I went without him. It was nice to have several extra sets of hands, at least for a day or two!
Ewan wanted nothing to do with the goats

My favorite part was the vegetables!
