Congrats Mary!

So my friend Mary just got engaged and has asked me to be in her wedding. I'm really excited for her!

But when she asked me this is what she said "so do you want to be one of my bridesmaids or matron of honor since you're married now?" Uhm...not quite sure if she meant bridesmaid or actually matron of honor. It doesn't matter to me either way, but I would like to know if I'm expected to head the planning of her shower/bachelorette party! I'm trying to come up with a way to tactfully ask her to specify. I tried asking her who all she's going to ask to be in the wedding, and she just told me their names and didn't specify. I'm hoping that she'll create a weddingbook or a knot page or something and then I won't have to ask. I dunno, maybe she hasn't decided yet?

But I'm excited for her. Dustin is a really nice guy and she deserves it!

The IPad

Really? Is that really necessary? It's just a larger version of the IPhone. Maybe I'm the only one here, but I think that it's the dumbest thing around. All the hype. For that.

So...my boss is allowing me to take time off to go to Rachel's shower. Yay! And, he also told me that since he's hiring a new person, I will most likely be able to work M-F. Double yay! That means I will only have to work Sun-Thurs for a few months hopefully. I'm very excited about this because then I will have my weekends back for the summer and Alan and I can take our mini trips that we've become so fond of. On top of that, I won't be starting the Sun shifts until March so I have all of my February weekends free.

I really like this plan...he better not hire a retired Verizon tech!

American flag the size of the football field, an eagle flying throughout the stadium and her voice. I just got the chills watching Jordin Sparks sing the national anthem at the Colts game!

I don't normally get sentimental about this kind of stuff, but maybe because it's the Colts and I'm missing home, but wow. I really hope they win...maybe I am becoming a football fan afterall!

Dear Crazy Biznatch from Villanova,

You would like information about conference calling? Ok, I can try to help you, what is your question. Oh, you would like the rates and to know if it can be set up immediately since you have a conference call this afternoon. I don't have the rates over here in repair, but I can send an email to our sales support team and they will give you a call back to discuss it with you. That's not acceptable? Well, ma'am, I'm sorry, but this is repair and the only way I have to contact them is email. I can tell you that it takes at least a business day for anything that's added to your phone service through Verizon. I'm sorry you're pissed, but you need to give us more notice before it can be added. I'll put an email in to sales support right away.

Definitely no love,
Your friendly telephone repair technician

On a Totally Unrelated Note

I've found that I'm really missing the Fort lately. I was looking on Facebook at friends' pages that still are there, and I'm finding that I really would like to move back. Obviously, not into my mom's, but into a place of our own. I can see myself raising kids there. We're talking about trying to conceive this spring and I really don't want to be out here when our kids start school. Now, I don't see us here that long, but you never know. I know that we will almost never be able to afford a home out here...well that's not true, we could probably afford one now for around what we pay in rent. But, we don't want to buy a home here when we're planning on moving within the next year or so.
I guess I just really want a place of our own. I want to be able to create a nursery for our children. Here, the "nursery" will be a crib stuff into our spare bedroom because we have so much stuff in there already. I know that if we get pregnant on the first try, or shortly thereafter, that the baby will most likely be born here. I just don't want to raise them here.
It's so weird, I've always wanted to live on the East Coast, and now that I'm here, I really want to go home.

I made a batch of tomato soup today. For those of you that don't know, I make soups and then freeze them so I can take them for lunch. My all time favorite is this recipe. yummy goodness
I do make a few changes. I don't add the creme fraiche garnish and I only use 2 1/2 c broth because I add 1/2 c red wine. It is yumtastic!

I used to buy ingredients for a new recipe out of one of my cookbooks everytime I went to the grocery. Since we moved to PA, I haven't been doing that. I really need to get back into that. I've found some really good meals that way.

Possible Anniversary Idea

So I was talking to some of the guys at work, and come to find out that the Eagles are playing in London next year...hmm...the wheels in my head start spinning...I'm thinking anniversary trip? I get to go to my favorite city in the world and Alan gets to watch football...sounds like a great anniversary trip to me! Especially since it's much cheaper to fly over there in the fall AND I have friends we could stay with if necessary.
We're planning on trying for a baby this summer but it could definitely work since I wouldn't be that far along at that point.
Now I just need to find out when they're playing...

New Job!

Oh yeah, did I ever mention that I started a new job on January 4? Yeah, my new boss found my resume on CareerBuilder and I interviewed for and was offered a position. It's a Customer Care position at a telecommunications company in West Chester. While not preservation, and it's customer service, it's NOT retail and I'm definitely happy to be away from Target. Starting sometime in February, I will be working Sunday - Thursday, which I'm not thrilled about, but I'll take an office job over crappy retail anyday. I'm getting paid more, don't have to work evenings, and my commute is cut in half. Uhm yeah...ok!
We're taking a Higgins family vacation to Disney World in June and I just so happened to see this Give A Day, Get A Day program advertised on tv. If you volunteer for a day, you get a free admission ticket to a Disney theme park. I think I can spend a Saturday volunteering somewhere to save money on our trip. Works for me!
