I received free admission to LEGOLand Florida in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
You probably all know that we spent last week in Florida at Disney World, but what you may not know is that we also spent a day at LEGOLand Florida. We went on Thursday and it was great to have a slower day away from the craziness that can be Disney. Unfortunately, it also happened to be the day after I got food poisoning, so I wasn't feeling all that great still.
LEGOLand Florida is located about 45 minutes southwest of Disney and if you don't have access to a car, there is a shuttle that will take you from the resorts. Or, you can just stay at the hotel adjacent to LEGOLand. We were afraid it was going to be another rainy day, but after a cloudy start, the weather turned out great. We never waited more than 10 minutes in line for anything, such a nice change from Disney!
Probably my favorite thing about LEGOLand is that they provide you with a list of things to do if you're under two. Thankfully Cecily is big enough to ride a lot of the rides, but I was really afraid she wasn't so I was glad to know ahead of time what there was for her. And there was LOTS. DUPLO® Valley is a whole area devoted to toddlers. Cecily and I rode the tractor and the train, built our own tractor in the tot spot, then played in the farm.
While we were playing in DUPLO® Valley, Alan and Ewan were having a blast in The World of Chima and LEGO® Kingdoms. Ewan rode the Royal Joust and Merlin's Challenge there. We tried to get him to ride some of the roller coasters, but he refused. I think Alan scarred him at Magic Kingdom. Oops! If I had been feeling better, I totally would've rode some.
We all did the Boating School, Rescue Academy (which is a total workout - you are warned!) and the kids did the Driving School in LEGO® City and the Safari Trek in Land of Adventure.
The park isn't that big and it's easily a half day. Even though I wasn't feeling that great, the kids had a blast. We didn't tell Ewan where we were going and he was more excited to be there than all of Disney! Visiting LEGOLand Florida was one of the few things on my wish list for our trip and I'm really glad I got to go because it's been on my travel wishlist for awhile now.
Have you ever been to LEGOLand? Did you have a great time?
