Travel Thursday: Independence Hall

Since tomorrow is July 4th, I figured that Independence Hall would be perfect for today's Travel Thursday.

Did you know that visiting Independence Hall, along with the Liberty Bell is free? All you need to do is pickup tickets to visit in the visitor's center for your timed entry.

The building was originally the Pennsylvania State House, which housed the colonial government.  I just love the Georgian architecture!

The tour begins in a classroom, where they acquaint you with the origins of the Declaration of Independence. For example, did you know that it wasn't actually signed until August?

The Assembly Room, where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed.

There's so much more to do in the area too. You can visit not only the Liberty Bell, but the National Constitution Center, Franklin Court, Carpenter's Hall, the First Bank of the United States and so much more. I remember the first time I saw Independence Hall. I was interviewing at the National Constitution Center and I looked out the window and there it was across the mall. The excitement I felt at how close I was to the site of such important events in our nation's history was incredible. To this day, I am so thankful I was able to visit and experience these historic places!
