Summer Bucket List: Drive In!

Last Friday we fulfilled something on our bucket list, which was to go to the drive in that's about 30 minutes away.

I have only been to a drive in once, the summer before I was a senior in high school and it was a blast then, so I knew we would have a great time this time around too.

We saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, at Alan's request, and wound up not staying for the second movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2 because we were exhausted and the windows of the car kept fogging up so we couldn't see...no there was nothing going on in there! :-)

The weather was absolutely perfect. It's been such a weird summer, with fall temperatures through most of July, and it got to be quite chilly later in the evening. Not that I'm complaining though...it was awesome!

We're hoping to go back again this summer...maybe to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Have you ever heard of Heroes of the City? It's this great kids' cartoon with Paulie the Police Car and Fiona Fire Engine. They now have an app designed specifically for babies and toddlers! The app is available in the iTunes store and on Google Play. Best of all it's free! It includes: 3 animated short movies, Music panel with two different themes, Color and shape games, Magic coloring game and Balloon Games

  2. Well, I didn't mention that the kids were both asleep about 20 minutes after the movie started!

  3. I love going to the drive in... We do not have one around here. Sad for us.

  4. Really? There's one in Garrett, near Auburn, but that's probably a little far for you. It's where most people in Ft. Wayne go.

  5. How fun! I wish we had that here. :)

  6. I just looked it up, there's one in Plymouth and Dowagiac, MI. Maybe they're closer?

  7. Fun! We had one sorta close to my college and I always kick myself for not going. Glad you crossed that one off the bucket list!

  8. oh I wish we had a drive in somewhere. I remember going to one as a kid, young enough to barely remember a thing beyond being there. Aria's godfather set up a projection screen on his back porch so they can do movies in the pool - so that will probably be as close as it gets for us. Fun, but totally a different vibe. So neat that you have one, and those fall temps...bonus!

  9. I think our nearest drive in is about an hour away. I wish it were closer! I'm loving the fall-like weather, too. I'll never complain about 70s in the summer!

  10. I know, it's awesome! We're supposed to have a weekend of 90s then back to the 70s for next week. I just wish I wasn't stuck inside at work all day.

  12. I think it's a great way to take little kids because they can run around beforehand and tired themselves out and if they make noise it's not nearly as big of a deal as in the theater.

  16. I haven't been to a drive in forever but the hubby and I went once for an anniversary celebration. I hope that there's still one open when Callie is old enough to stay up that late! Looks like a really fun night! Thanks for linking up with us!

  17. There is a drive-in like 2 minutes up the road from me. Been there since the 1960's. I love to go, the kids love it, better than a movie theater!

  18. We intend to go a lot more now that we know the kids can handle it :-)
