Things I Collect

To be honest, I really don't collect anything. I had to ask Alan if he thought I collected anything and he said "Do you collect anything? I thought you purposely don't collect anything because you don't like clutter."

He hit that one spot on.

I cannot stand clutter. I grew up in a disorganized household and I think that now I am the total opposite. I like organization and for things to be in their place. I don't like miscellaneous crap that just sits on a shelf. Don't get me wrong, we do have decorations sitting on shelves in our house. But, all of it has some sort of meaning to us: i.e. it came from somewhere we traveled, or is from our kids or wedding etc. I guess if I had to say I collect anything, it's a specific Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt. Yet, I haven't bought one since we first lived in PA...six years ago. I would like to have them made into a t-shirt quilt at some point...if any of you readers do that sort of thing, let me know...

Alan on the other hand, collects all sorts of stuff. Paperweights, eagle statues, comics...that's why he has his own room in the basement :-)

I'm part of the #2014BloggerChallenge. Are you?

  2. I guess some would consider what me and the husband collect clutter and crap but they are things we enjoy and love (vinyl records, vintage powder compacts to model trains and Transformer toys) but I grew up always collecting something so for me it's second nature!

  3. Ah, shirts. Sean is obsessed with "the shirt" from Notre Dame and I'm pretty sure he will keep each one and wear til he dies...

  4. All of my HRC shirts are sitting in a drawer - some of them are over 10 years old now. I really need to do something with them before they get gross!

  5. LOL It's his office and I told him he could do whatever he wanted with it as long as it has a door that shuts so I don't have to see it!

  6. I went through a phase where I collected Hard Rock Cafe shirts from all of the places that we visited--until I realized that I was going to have to wear one every day for the rest of my life if I kept that up. I don't collect anything now, other than travel or local ghost/legend books from the places I go.

  7. We did that but it got to be sooo much! We now hang up their artwork on a board for each kid and take it down at the end of the month. My husband has started scanning it and we're going to make Shutterfly books of everything, probably yearly.

  8. LOL I think that's why I stopped getting them too :-) I have probably 20 or so that hardly ever get worn.

  9. I don't like clutter either but I can't help saving pictures, concert tickets etc... I came close to tossing some this weekend but then put them back. Sigh...

  11. I saved everything from my study abroad but that's it and it's all in a scrapbook. I used to save movie ticket stubs in high school but it got to the point where it was a little ridiculous so they got thrown out.
