Why OOTD Posts Are Not for Me

I am by no means a fashion blogger. While I like looking at fashion, I am way too uncomfortable in my body to show off what I'm wearing or purposely pose for "fashion photos."

What I wore on one of the days I went to the IN Historic Preservation Conference last week.

I very rarely buy new clothes - I think the last time I did was when we went to the outlet mall last summer on our attempted vacation. I used to buy clothes all the time, but now it's a rare occasion. Most of my money spent on clothes is for the kids. Most of my clothes are from when I was in grad school...about eight years ago.

On top of all that, fat people can't wear cute clothes. Or at least the clothes I would like to wear. I'm working on changing that, but it's a LONG process as I've got about 50-60 pounds to lose. I definitely don't feel comfortable in my skin right now and don't like to show off my ill fitting outfits.

  1. I'm the same way! I own one pair of jeans and like 4 shirts that I actually like on me, hahaha. I could never do OOTD.

  2. Most of my shirts are all worn out or stretched out by Felix:(

  3. I understand the being uncomfortable but you can really year cute outfits! Many celebrities have proven that! With that said, I too tend to spend my money on my kids neglecting my own wardrobe and laugh that I am wearing a pair of denims I brought with me from America 5 years ago! lol

  4. Ha! I know...I never get new clothes. I never dress up either. I always wear jeans or jean shorts and a band or motorcyle t-shirt every day of my life. No kiddin, same style since junior high lol. It would be like,"There she is again in a band t-shirt and them same old boots wow" You should see my 10 year high school reunion pic, front row with the rest of the shorties, dressed in a Harley Davidson tank top, jeans, and combat boots, while everyone else was dressed like they were at the Royal Wedding. I could never do the OOTD posts!

  5. I'm in the awkward place right now where plus size clothes are too big, but non-plus size are just a little too tight for my liking. My body type is also really hard to buy for because I'm so big up top that my shirts just hang off me since I have to buy them so big to fit my boobs and my pants just hang off my waist because I have no hips or butt.

  6. A lot of my shirts have holes around the collar where Cecily has pulled on them one too many times.

  7. When I actually went outside the house to work, I tried to always be put together. Now, I'm in pjs or yoga pants most days, and my idea of dressing up is putting on my jeans to head to Target. But I totally understand not being comfortable in your own skin. I've got about 20 pounds to lose before I can feel "normal" again. Stay strong!

  8. I don't feel comfortable in my skin to do OOTD either - all my clothes are out dated as well. I prefer to buy the kids clothes, too, I feel like they need to look cute & stylish vs. myself. I did however buy a few shirts for work the other day at Old Navy because they were on sale! Oh and a pair of super cute sandals from Body Central for work - but yea...been wearing the same jeans/work pants for YEARS! Haha

  9. Most of my clothes are from when I was in high school about 7 years ago.. All my shopping is for my children so I understand where you are coming from about having your clothes be from awhile ago! I personally think you look great though, I love skirts and simple tops in the Spring!

  10. I have bought a few things here and there, but it's usually because my clothes are so worn out that I have no choice.

  11. Nothing dresses you up more than that gorgeous smile you're wearing!
