Weight Loss Update

Back in January I posted about my New Year's Inspiration: to fit into one of my favorite dresses again. So, I thought I would give you all a weight loss update being that the first quarter of the year is over (what?!)

I haven't been keeping up with updating my weight loss tab on the blog, which honestly isn't because I haven't been weighing myself, but more because I keep forgetting. However, aside from going on the stomach virus diet where I lost five pounds in two days then promptly gained it back, I have been maintaining my current weight and going back and forth between 188-193 pounds.

I guess I should be glad that I'm not gaining, but I'm also very frustrated that I'm not losing. I finally have a gym buddy so I am going to the gym several days a week and either riding the exercise bike at home or taking evening walks with Alan and the kids a couple days a week. I'm also frustrated because I weigh what I did when I got married, but my body looks nothing like it did then. Two babies and two abdominal surgeries have forever changed that.

One of my favorite wedding photos - I look so skinny!

I really need to get my eating back under control - I fell off the paleo wagon back in January/February and have been struggling ever since to get back on. I'll do well for a week and then on the weekend it falls apart. This past weekend has made it abundantly clear though that I just can't have sugar and gluten because of how it affects me. I need to get off of it 100 percent. It's all or nothing.

I guess I'm doing something right though because I have been told by several people that I look like I'm losing!

  1. Our weight is a constant struggle within ourselves but stay in there and remain positive!! The results lay in your hands. The point is that you are already beautiful now to make yourself see and feel that way!

  5. It is hard. It's even harder to have given it up before and then have to do it again! there's so much more to it than just giving up sugar because it's in EVERYTHING. All processed foods, anything with starch, fruit, certain vegetables. And then you have the issue of once you've detoxed your body and go back to eating it, you can develop reactions to certain foods (or you notice them now). This is what happened to me. I know that I cannot eat it, yet it's so darn hard to completely give it all up. Especially in social settings because I either don't eat or am the rude girl bringing her own food.

  7. You can do it. Have you considered using MyFitnessPal to help hold you accountable? It is an awesome app that is available on Itunes and Google Play and best of all it is free. It has a huge database of food from restaurants and more. When I use and follow my calorie counts, I successfully lose weight. I loved the app because it held me accountable and I had to track my food. I lost weight even eating out a few years ago.

  9. I have done so well with my 2014 goals with the exception of losing weight. I just can't get my act together. I hope things turn around for you and you do well in the upcoming months and reach your goals.

  10. I hate the stomach virus diet...I had that a couple of weeks ago, too! I'm glad you are getting back into exercising regularly. I'm trying to do the Couch to 5k (again), so we'll see how that goes;)

  11. I need to lose too. I weigh more now than I ever have, and I know with blogging that I sit a lot at the computer.

  12. It's so hard--especially after having a baby. Oh, how the body changes! At least you are making positive changes in your life so that you can feel comfortable and confident--keep up the good work! (Do you like your cheering squad over here?!?! :) )

  13. I think what is important is how you are feeling, not necessarily the numbers on the scale. I think I've finally accepted I will not have the body I had in college (which I thought back then was huge). I struggle every day with the diet and not having gluten. Just take it one day at a time and realize that you can always start over at the next meal or the next day!

  14. We can cheer each other on, Holly. I am working on getting in more physical activity and feeding my family better. I have been sick the past few days, so I haven't done as much as I want to! I am feeling better though, so I am hoping I can get back to the gym tomorrow morning!

We can do it! Even the smallest steps forward are still steps forward!

  15. Thank you! I love my dress still :-) I'm glad that I'm working out regularly again so hopefully I'll see results, even if it's not on the scale.

  16. I have learned that I don't do well counting calories/points etc. so I just make a point to eat wholesome, real foods and stay away from sweets and processed junk.
