Welcome Back Holly!

I posted in my January goals that I was going to join a gym. Well, I actually did that at the beginning of the month, but it's only been this weekend that I have finally been able to go.

Rockin' out to some circa 2009 Black Eyed Peas...Boom Boom Pow!

I haven't been to a gym other than the apartment fitness center since grad school. While working out at 32 v. 26 is definitely harder (or maybe I'm just that out of shape!). Some things never change.

For instance, there are always the tiny girls that are just there to "hang out." Then there are the guys who are definitely there to check out the girls that are there to hang out. Who knew GTL existed in Southwest Indiana?

Me, on the other hand, was there with my circa 2006 iPod and its playlist that hasn't been updated since probably not too long after that. Pop, lock and drop it anyone?

Regardless, I have had amazing workouts the last two days in a row and have left feeling great. I also found my absolute favorite thing at the gym tonight, the standing ab machine. I used to be able to do 100 lifts without stopping back in the day. Tonight I was able to do 30 in 3 reps of 10. I was very proud of my old, out of shape self!

However, I am going to be so sore tomorrow....

  3. You go girl! I just started boot camp today to try to kick my fitness in to gear. I got really fit and in shape when I was 26. Now at 33 it seems almost impossible. I'll be here to help motivate you!

  4. I lost 50 lbs right after college and kept it off until I had kids. I'm determined to get back into shape, lose those 50 lbs and then some!

  8. Good for you! I need to do more weights. I'm trying to walk on the treadmill 3-4 days a week--not a lot, but better than what I was doing (nothing:))

  10. So understand! My last job had a gym perk that I've been missing so I finally did what I said I'd never do and join the local gold's. I hate everything about it except working out :D

  13. That is awesome! I really want to get back into shape (having a baby is tough on the body!!), but since we're debt snowballing, there's no room in the budget for a gym right now. So, I'm trying to find motivation each day to go out walking (if it's not too cold or rainy).

  14. I'm glad I don't have a gym like that, no posers here thank god. Don't think they could afford the membership, all we have is the thin females spending all their time on the stepper trying to work on their butts.

  15. My monthly fee is coming out of my fun money. It's $10/month so not too bad.

  16. We have those too. There was a girl there yesterday that looked like she has pencils for arms. It was a little sickening actually.
