Two Toddlers + Stomach Virus = No Fun!

Since Wednesday evening we have been battling the dreaded stomach virus that has been going around. So far, Alan and I have avoided getting sick, but Cecily got sick Wednesday evening and again right before we picked them up from daycare on Thursday. Yes we did send them to daycare. Call us bad parents, but we weren't entirely sure that that's what it was because she was acting totally fine before and after and didn't have a fever or any other issue, and because of other, unforseen circumstances, we have used all of our time off, including what we had specifically saved for the week of Christmas. So, unless we knew for sure it was a virus, we didn't want to have to take unpaid time.

Well, I wound up doing that Friday anyway because Ewan got sick on the way home from my friend's birthday party in the car. Now, I can handle it when others get sick, but let me tell you. Whoa. It happened when we were almost home and when I got him out of the car, it was bad. To be honest, I really just want to buy him a new car seat because it was that bad. Since you can't wash the straps and the instructions on the fabric specifically state not to throw it in the washer, my car REEKS, even though I tried to get it out as best I could with baby wipe and sprayed everything with a water/vinegar mix.

The poor kid went on to be sick half the night too so there was no way they were going to daycare Friday. So, I got to stay home and take care of my sick babies. By that point, Cecily wasn't getting sick anymore, but was very cranky and needy and Ewan didn't get sick until the afternoon and was also cranky and needy. They just didn't feel good, which meant that everything was ten times harder and more dramatic that it needed to be. I also had a concert last night so I had to run out the door right when Alan got home from work. I wound up just throwing my hair up and giving myself a "shore shower" if you know what I mean because I definitely didn't get a chance to take a real one!

While it definitely wasn't any fun and I was am completely exhausted, I honestly wouldn't change a thing. I love staying home with my babies every chance I get!

  4. I totally feel your pain considering that Maddie has a bug as well that caused me to leave work early on Friday. She's actually doing well with no fever either but throwing up coupled with diah....you know! It's not been fun, but I'm happy she's taking it in stride! I hope you're little ones get better soon too!

  5. Yuck! I am already dreading the days of vomiting. So far we have only ever encountered spit-up. I hope I can handle the vomiting well. I'm a little worried I will throw up myself. In the car too! Oh you poor woman! Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon and I REALLY hope you don't get it.

  8. Ewan threw up once when he was about 7 months old and it was because he was choking on something. I can normally handle being around people when they get sick, but this was bad. I felt so horrible for them because there's nothing we can do aside from trying to make sure they get fluids and clean up after them if we have to.

  9. We have no idea where they got it because none of the other kids at their daycare are sick. I also feel horrible because Ewan was around a bunch of kids at my friend's birthday party, then got sick right after.

  10. Ewan wound up missing his cousin's birthday party because he was still sick, poor kid. We've been almost 24 hours sick free now, so hopefully that means Alan and I are in the clear!
