Florida Trip

I've been gone the last week to Naples, FL for my brother in-law's wedding. I haven't taken the pictures off of my camera yet, so they will have to be posted later. But, the wedding was beautiful. Megan was a beautiful bride. I missed some of the ceremony because Ewan wanted to play in the sand and started fussing so I took him behind everyone so he could play. But, what I saw and heard was great.

The only bad thing is that Alan and I ate something funky at Taco Bell on the way down because we were both sick Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I was also a little sick Sunday and Monday. I was so bad off after the wedding on Saturday that I wasn't able to go to the pier in Naples to see the sunset with the rest of the family. I was pissed!

I did, however, get to go to the Everglades and take a boat ride through the 10,000 Islands. I was really looking forward to that so I would've been really upset had I not been able to go. While we saw a couple dolphins, we didn't get to see any manatees because they're the same color as the water. We also drove to the middle of the Everglades, but we didn't stay long since it was so hot and I was so hungry I had gotten sick. Ewan, unfortunately, had had enough and threw the worst fit he's ever thrown on the way back. He would only calm down whenever Alan's dad talked to him. That kid is OBSESSED with his Papaw!

We stopped in Zellwood on the way back to see my Great Aunt Ardis. It was good to see her. I don't think I have since my cousin Laurie's wedding almost 5 years ago! She took us to lunch and took us around this trendy little town that's close to her. It's on a lake and really pretty. My mom told me later that no one swims or boats in the lake because its full of alligators!

After seeing Ardis, we drove to Atlanta, where we stayed for two nights. We went to the Georgia Aquarium, the largest in the world. My favorites were the beluga whales, penguins, otters and the giant tank and tunnel with the whale sharks and manta rays. Oh and I can't forget the dolphin show! Probably my favorite part of the entire aquarium. I also loved watching Ewan. He was fascinated with the tanks and loved the penguins and otters. He was so cute trying to talk to them!

Later that evening we went to dinner with one of Alan's friends from high school who lives in the Atlanta area. We just went to Applebee's, but my food was awesome! I had a chili lime skillet. It was grilled chicken and veggies in a chili lime sauce on top of a bed of rice. I know Alan enjoyed seeing his friend too.

Wednesday, we began the remainder of our drive back to Evansville. It was a 17 hour drive in total, and I'm so glad we broke it up on the way down and back. I drove the entire way, but I think all three of us would've gone insane had we tried to drive down and back in one stretch. Poor Ewan is going to be scarred from the carseat! We finally got home around 3PM and we just unloaded the car and crashed. We now have the "fun" chore of picking up our trashed house this weekend.

  1. Sounds like a nice wedding. Naples seems absolutely gorgeous! Sorry you were sick though. :-( Definitely a good way to ruin a vacation.

You guys should have stopped at the Chicken and Waffles place and Coca Cola while you were in ATL. It's fun and worth the visit. And the food at the waffle place (namely the cheesecake) is amazing.

I don't envy you the car ride with Ewan. We did it with Dylan in 2010. It was long to say the least.

  2. We didn't have a lot of time in Atlanta, otherwise I would've loved to have gone to Coca Cola. My stomach was still pretty upset at that time and I don't think I could've handled fried food. Plus, the combination of chicken and waffles sounds disgusting to me!
