Rolling Already?!

Ewan rolled over for the first time tonight! I had him lying on his back, playing with his book, while I was in the kitchen doing dishes. I heard him fussing and when I went to check on him, he was on his belly! At first I thought it was a fluke, but he did it again about 10 minutes later. He's been rolling onto his side for days now, so I knew he was going to start rolling soon, but holy cow, he's mobile!

Alan says it doesn't count because he wasn't here to see it, but it so does!

Exercise

I finally went and worked out this afternoon while I've got the chance. And wow, I'm out of shape! I guess not working out hardcore while pregnant, coupled with a c section and gallbladder surgery has really taken it's toll on me. It was all I could do to use the elliptical for 15 minutes! And crunches? Forget it, my abs are shot! I've decided that I'm going to use the fitness center at least 3 times a week no matter what. I lost 40 lbs within a month after giving birth, but that's it. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost either. I rejoined Weight Watchers and want to get to my previous low weight as my mini goal, but ultimately I want to reach 150 lbs. I'm also in my friend's wedding in November, and I don't want to be the fattest girl there.

Here we go again on the weight loss journey!

Daycare

Today is also Ewan's first day at daycare :( One of the ladies called me earlier to tell me that he's doing fine, so I'm sure it's much harder on me than it is him, but I so miss my little guy!

Right now I'm just counting down the hours until I get to pick up my baby. I promised Alan I wouldn't go get him until 3PM...45 minutes to go!

Wonderful Weather

After meeting my friend Melanie for lunch, Alan and I decided to take advantage of the awesome weather we're having and take Ewan to Mesker Zoo. He's a little young to enjoy it yet, and we got there an hour before they closed so we didn't see all of it, but we got a membership so we can take go year round. The cool thing is that we get discounted admission or get into zoos all over the country free with our pass. Since Alan loves zoos and we visit them almost everywhere we go, it works out!

Mac n Cheese

I don't know what it is, but I love that stuff! I'm always coming up with new mac n cheese creations. Tonight's was mac n cheese with tuna, spinach, roma tomatoes, onion, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Yummy!

I seriously think I could eat mac n cheese everyday and not get sick of it. That and pancakes and chocolate chip cookies...if I weren't stuffed I would be finding dessert!

I Miss My Baby!

So Ewan has been in Louisville at my in-laws since Monday night because I had an interview yesterday and one this morning.

I sure miss that kid!

When people would tell me that after your child is born, you don't even remember what it was like without them, I thought that was a bunch of crap. But, it's true. I haven't known what to do with myself the past two nights without him.I cannot wait to go pick him up this afternoon.

All I have to say is that I better get this job after this effort has been put out!

Two Month Checkup

Ewan and I just got back from his two month checkup and he now weights 12 lbs 1 oz, is 23" long with a head circumference of 41 cm. He also had his 2 month vaccinations, but they were only 2 shots and an oral vaccine. He took them like a champ and only cried for a few minutes before falling asleep.

And now a few pictures!

Two months old!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Chop Chop

I chopped my hair off this afternoon. Sadly, it's been almost a year since I've had a haircut and I had decided that I would get a haircut as a reward for getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm so excited it's short again!

Slowly but Surely

We're slowly getting everything unpacked here in Evansville. We've got a long way to go still, but it's so much better than they day we moved in. Who would've thought it would be so much more difficult with a baby :-) I think all of us are glad to finally be in our place and not driving across the country or staying with family.

Not really much else to say at the moment. I will provide a substantial update soon!

Things I Miss

While I am glad to be closer to friends and family again, there are things I will miss, and already do, about PA and the East Coast.

1. Being close to NYC, Philly and DC
2. Being within 2 hours of the ocean
3. Wawa
4. Hills and mountains
5. Buildings that were built before 1800 and constructed of stone
6. Tax free shopping in DE
7. Places we didn't get to visit in our 2.5 years in PA (Philadelphia Zoo, Fort Mifflin, Pusey House, Valley Forge, Annapolis, Eastern Shore, Boston, Vermont and New Hampshire, Montreal)

There are more things that I can't remember at the moment, but I can say that it will be an adjustment coming back to the Midwest!

Catchup

I'm playing catchup for a few days since I was down for the count this past week due to having my gallbladder out PLUS moving across the country.

The pain from my surgery has pretty much gone away a week later, except my right side still hurts a little when I take deep breaths or cough or laugh. Nothing like it was though. All of my incisions are doing well except for the one above my belly button has what my surgeon called fat necrosis. Basically after surgery fat cells can break down and become dead tissue. Sounds yummy right. He had to partially open my incision to drain it and I have to wear gauze on it and watch it closely to make sure it doesn't get infected. I really really hope that doesn't happen because I have no idea who I would see out here for it! To be honest, I don't know if I would put myself through that again. Everyone keeps telling me it's worth it, but that pain sucked!

In addition to my surgery, we're also in the process of moving. Alan and my in laws packed up all our stuff, loaded the moving truck and cars and we drove to my in laws in Louisville over the last two days. We're here until we can move into our new place in Evansville on Saturday. It's been a rough couple of days and I'm so glad we have a few days before we have to move all our stuff again.
