Ewan had his first doctor's appointment today. He now weighs 8lbs 2 oz, up from 7 lbs 14 oz when we left the hospital. The pediatrician wants him to gain an ounce a day and said that he lost a lot of weight in the hospital, which is due to all the issues we had breastfeeding at first. Now that my milk has finally come in, hopefully that won't be the case anymore because the kid eats ALL THE TIME. Our next appointment isn't until he's a month old, so I'm sure we'll be fine.
We also have to schedule a follow up with the hospital audiology department because he failed the newborn hearing screen in his left ear. We were told it's very common and that most likely we have nothing to worry about, that it can happen because there's still fluid in the ear or he was moving around a lot, etc. Knowing Ewan, he was moving around. I can't help but be a little worried until we have the second hearing screen. I know that there's nothing I can do about it in the meantime though. I guess it's another mommy lesson for me. Learn to go with the flow more!
On another note, I can't believe that we'll be headed back to Indiana and Kentucky a week from tomorrow. I know that he's still a newborn, but I feel like time is already flying. Alan's already almost halfway through his paternity leave. Craziness!
