I've had two gallbladder attacks. The first time I went to the ER, where I was admitted to the hospital for a week to treat my gallbladder medically so I wouldn't have to have surgery. Two weeks later, I wound up going back to the ER, where I was promptly admitted and then transferred to another hospital because the hospital where I was didn't want to do anything to me since I'm pregnant. I wound up getting transferred to Penn, and they did a ECRP, don't ask me what that stands for, but it's basically where they went down through my esophagus and took out the gallstones that were blocking my bile duct and causing my liver to malfunction. It was the least invasive thing that could be done, and since I had originally been told that I was going to have my gallbladder taken out while pregnant, I was very relieved at that. I haven't had an attack since (*knocks on wood*) and I have to be really careful with what I eat so it doesn't happen again until the baby's born. Once he's here, then I will have it out, probably about 6 weeks later.
I also got to go home and spend some time at the lake finally. I haven't been back to the Fort since Christmas, and to the lake since Labor Day weekend 2009. The weather was cold and windy, but I was so happy to be back and see friends and family that I didn't care. I also had my baby shower in Louisville. Alan's mom went all out, which I really didn't expect. It was really nice, and we got tons of stuff for Gizmo. He has now taken over our apartment!
One thing that was a little weird about going to Alan's parents is that we almost moved in with them that week. Alan was offered and turned down a job in Lexington, KY, and had he taken it we would've moved in with them until after the baby's born. I was really upset about it at first, and still am to an extent, but I know that there's no way we could afford it with the cost of insurance and what they offered him. Since I wouldn't be able to get a full time job right away, there's just no way we could've done it without totally wiping out our savings and going into even more debt. It sucks, but I just keep telling myself that the right thing will come along for us, we just have to be a little more patient.
My friend Melanie from UE is currently visiting this weekend, and it's good to see her. We never get visitors out here unless it's our parents so it's really nice to have someone that's not family here! We had dinner in downtown Wilmington, DE last night along the river. I've never been down there before and it's really nice. Today we're going to Longwood Gardens, which I love and then tomorrow we're going to spend the day in Philly. I'm really excited to eat lunch at Reading Terminal Market tomorrow. There's this turkey place that is awesome.
Pretty much all of October is going to fly by. Alan's parents are coming, then we're going on our anniversary/fall foliage/babymoon trip to Vermont, then birth classes, and then Alan's birthday and our actual anniversary. November I'm sure will fly by as well, just getting ready for baby and the holidays. I can't believe I'm already 6.5 months pregnant. It seems like yesterday that I was staring at that positive test in shock!
